The Cambridge Chamber Ensemble is auditioning principal cast and covers for Handel’s Baroque opera Silla, to be sung in English. Performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 17 - 19, 2019 at Warehouse XI in Union Square, Somerville, MA. Rehearsals April 1 – May 16, 2019.
Auditions will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Cambridge, MA, near Central Sq. Be prepared to sing a da capo aria from a Handel opera (not Silla or Amadigi), with ornaments, plus a short non-coloratura excerpt by Handel in English. Please do not request a specific role as all voice types and genders will be considered for all roles. Casting will be based on vocal and dramatic presentation (come dressed for movement).
Qualifications:
Familiarity with Baroque vocal and dramatic conventions.
